Edition Notes

The First Edition of "The Runaway Bunny" has Harper & Brothers Publishers, New York and London on the title page. The copyright page has ten lines of text, followed by a blank line, followed by "3--2", followed by a blank line, followed by "FIRST EDITION", followed by the letters "M--Q" (M--Q is the Harper code for December--1941). The words "First Edition" and the letters "M--Q" are in a slightly larger type font. The reverse of the last page of text has two lines that state "Hand-set in Weiss Bold by Edna Rushmore at- the Golden Hind Press in Madison, New Jersey.". The copy examined was bound in a library binding, but was not an ex library copy. It appears that the copy was originally bound in this binding. It has a small binders stamp "PICTURE COVER BINDINGS". The original blue and white pictorial end pages were bound into the book inside of the library binding end pages. This copy did not have a dust jacket when examined. Whether it ever had one for this library issue is questionable. The trade issue of the book was issued in a jacket.
